Summary
This book provides concise, non-technical advice for business travelers who need to protect their mobile devices and critical business data from being compromised while traveling to high risk destinations in Asia, the European Union, Russia, Brazil, Israel and elsewhere. All travelers do not face the same level of risk, hence the security advice will vary depending upon how you answer three key questions: (1) Does your company produce a product or service that is a high priority for the government of the country that you’re visiting?; (2) What is your position within your company?; (3) which nation state are you traveling to? How you answer these three questions determines your Cyber Risk Index™ (CRI).
For example, the CRI for a product manager at Pepsico is much lower than that of a product manager at Lockheed Martin. Therefore, there’s no reason for the Pepsico PM to – for example – forgo surfing the Web or watching YouTube while in Kyrgyzstan if her cyber security protocol doesn’t require it. On the other hand, a Lockheed Martin PM should load any videos that he wants to watch onto a portable hard drive before leaving home because he shouldn’t even install a web browser onto his travel laptop or smart phone when traveling in Kyrgyzstan or other CIS countries.
This 40 page ebook provides detailed guidance on how to determine your personal CRI; provides information on how Russian and Chinese intelligence services can legally intercept your data and interact with you personally; and provides a groundwork in basic cyber self defense.
