The National Science Foundation’s Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program provides grants that support the development of innovative approaches for educating highly skilled technicians for the industries that drive the nation’s economy. In tandem with creating products to improve students’ learning, many ATE grantees offer professional development for faculty.
The ATE program funds large, comprehensive Centers of Excellence, as well as smaller-scale, more focused projects. Each ATE Center generally involves a collaboration among several educational institutions, along with partners from business, industry, and government, all of which work together to improve education and build the workforce in a particular area of technology.
