Ubuntu recently released Security Notices to address vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel that affect several products, including Ubuntu 14.04 ESM, 16.04 ESM, 18.04 LTS, 20.04 LTS, 22.04 LTS, and 22.10.
The Security Notices are released by Ubuntu developers when a security issue is fixed in an official Ubuntu package.
Users and administrators are advised to contact the Security Team to report a security vulnerability in an Ubuntu package.
The Security Team produces OVAL files, which contain details of all known security vulnerabilities and fixes relevant to the Ubuntu release, for each Ubuntu release.
As with any security issue, it is important to update vulnerable software as soon as possible. By doing so, users can help prevent attackers from exploiting known vulnerabilities to gain unauthorized access or perform other malicious actions.
